That's about a hundred dollars Hey, what if I download an iso from the pirate bay and attempt installation using my serial number (instead of using the crack, I don't want to disable windows updates/ run an illegal copy of windows)? Would that be considered as software piracy? And more importantly, since you mentioned my OS to be a HP specific edition, will it work at all?? I have a 5 DVD ghost image which i created right after the purchase, I guess recovering from that would be my only option now.
(which would unfortunately re-install all the HP bloat, and kill my linux installation) And regarding storage space, the internal HDD on this computer is a 7200/320GB toshiba SATA II, wish I could afford a TB and SATA III, But anyway, I find this concept of 'recovery partition' pretty lame, and I'da probably ended up deleting it even if i had a TB (just a matter of personal taste IMO, I've always assembled my computers myself, installed the OS from the DVD, and downloaded the drivers from the the internet. The price you pay is 99% cost of the license (which I have, maybe you should have read properly, I wasn't asking for your opinion on how to crack windows, I have a license and I know to use cracks too, but I won't, by my personal choice) and 1% the cost of media. It's the same as borrowing a friend's windows DVD after you misplace yours and using your serial number instead of your friend's. This works great for retail editions. I've done this a hundred time, and as far as logical reasoning goes, this isn't piracy, I have paid for the license.
And I can get all the updates from microsoft:-) However, I'd stick with Mr.Moderator's advice above. 'Most OEM makers provided you the the 'opportunity' to make recovery/restore discs'. You wiped that away and then you cleaned out the partition as well' Maybe you should read the post properly before attempting a reply, I just mentioned I have a 5 DVD ghost I'm sure you understand what a ghost is, don't you?

HP does not provide an ISO, and the only thing they do provide is something known as HP Recovery Media. This is a set of DVDs and a CD, or USB stick, that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, settings, and applications, reinstall the original OS, drivers, and some HP Utilities. In some cases, you may be able to order a USB stick instead of disks. You have to order these from HP; they can not be downloaded. You can look online for Recovery Media starting with the linked paged: Once there, input your Product name or number. On your Software and Drivers Download page, select your Operating System and and Version. Click 'Update'.
If HP Recovery Media is available for your machine, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for Order Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click the '+' symbol to expand that entry and click on Order Media for details.
