Guys, thanks very much for suggestions! Tomorrow I'll edit the list of HDDs and try again with the Bi-Centronics cable. Today I tried again with network cable, but no success. As I know, it's impossible to do a full format of the HDD with the network cable. Today, I was getting timeout errors on every try to format HDD. I'm using two different laptops, both with Windows XP SP2 and an LPT port (ECP is set in the BIOS). I have installed SST v2.02 and an old FW on one of them and a new version of SST (v3.35E with the new FW) on another.

View and Download Canon IR2200 service manual online. IR2200 All in One Printer pdf manual download. Also for: Ir2800, Ir3300. Canon imageRUNNER ADVANCE devices provide both onboard and optional data protection systems to help secure the information and images stored on your device's hard drive.
Both are giving timeout errors all the time:( What about using another PC with Windows 2000? Does it have any sense? Today I tried to edit the *.ift file and change the name of one of the drives (as was suggested). Registered this file within the SST and tried to format. It gave me a timeout error 145. Here is how I try to format the drive: I'm switching off iR3300, closing SST, disconnecting the Bi-Centronics cable, then switching on iR3300 with 2 & 8 (for 'Download Mode'), connecting Bi-Centroncs from copier to laptop, running SST and trying to format again.
Still no luck:( Maybe there's another problem than HDD? Hey guys 3 pages of discussion on a hard drive problem. This sounds a bit over the top for me anytime I get a hard drive problem I just replace it and reload the system.
This makes me wonder if the techs. Know what they are doing or is it just non trained techs. That are trying to repair these machines. We trained techs know when we get 601 is a hard drive problem and it would seem to me that there are a lot of untrained people trying to repair these machines or else they do not have the proper tools to do the job. If you do not have the correct S.S.T. Driver De Wifi Para Hp. Then you cant repair them and anyone working on these machines can get the S.S.T from canon.so come on enough messing about and get some proper training or at least get the tools to do the job properly.:eek::cool::D:p •. The crux of the matter is that the original poster has not purchased a drive from Canon, he has just bought a cheaper one in the hope it will work to try to save money.
Add all the man hours up that he has exhausted on this execise backwards and forwards to the customer and it has probably cost him more than buying from Canon direct. As you say, buy the right drive, load the software and away she goes. I posted how to do the install and if it didn't work there can only be one reason, wrong drive. You cannot go wrong with genuine stuff, everything else is a false economy. Don't mess about refurbing fusers etc, waste of time, they don't last.
We don't even keep pirate toner in stock anymore (Katun are the worst CQ). And I must say, I didn't think there were any 3300's left in the field.
I agree with you Smudger proper hard drive and S.S.T. And away it goes and works everytime takes about an hour at the most to change it and a proper service to eliminate any bouncer. I must add that I am sorry that the 3300 range has been teminated prematurely. This machine to me was one of the best ones that Canon ever made and was high on parts but it worked and never gave any great problems.
As you say the time spent going here and there would be better off spent on proper parts from Canon cause at the end of the day only original parts and Toners do keep machines working properly and much less down time. If anyone can CANON can:p •.
First of all you have to use a bi-centronics cable(a two way cable) labeled IEEE1284 or a usb nethawk which you have to install the driver before that will work., there is no fixed ip. Also a few other things almost everybody overlooks.
Driver Hp Laserjet 1010 Win 8 64 Bit here. You need the correct version of bootrom, dc con and rcon or your flashing is not complete, or wont even work at all in some cases. Why upgrade if you really aren't doing it right? You will have doc feeder problems (r-con not upgraded) and others. When you format the drive you need to say 'all partitions' using 2 & 8 download mode c. As for using another hard drive, i have never tried. I haven't tried to hack hard drives yet.
Not enough time in a day. Since you are not using a hard drive in the list, cant rule out other things like main controller being bad. That has happened on occasion. I would start with a updated bootrom etc then continue with the hard drive flashing etc. Once you go to the newer bootrom and system software and its working, you cant flash the old bootrom (ver 2 in my case) to a higher version, it simply would not work. Here are the latest versions, bootrom version 12.01,rcon 7.01,dc-con 26.44, main controller 45.01, rui 42.01,language 45.01 some info 1.Download Mode B (accessed within Service Mode on the device, boot up through normal boot or FIXEDIP). Download Mode B allows limited access and can only format certain partitions (it does not allow for a complete format of the drive).
